In case you are new to the world of large applique designs, let me fill you in. A large applique design is one which needs 2 or more hoopings, with the joining completed as you stitch, in the hoop. The beauty of my large applique designs is you can quickly create a 3D Animal Design much larger than your hoop, and then add them to quilt blocks, reading pillows or pretty much any item as you like.

This stunning Peacock is made in 3 hoopings - it can be created as a stand-alone Peacock which can be appliqued to premade items, or, as with the photos below, attached to an item such as a denim jacket.

Finished Size

  • 8x10 hoop  25 by 50cm        10 by 20 inches
  • 6x10 hoop  20cm by 42cm   8.5 by 16.5inches
  • 5x7 hoop    18cm by 35cm    7 by 13.5inches

 

Once you have created your Peacock you can add them onto a pre-made item – Tote Bags, Denim Jackets, cushions or use as a centre piece for a Quilt.

 

We used the 5x7 size for my Denim Jacket

We use hoop size descriptions in line with usual industry terms.  If you are unsure if your hoop is big enough for a design, please check the size in mm, or click here for a list of common Embroidery Hoop Sizes

Please note that our 6x10 designs utilize the full embroidery field, which may not fit within the Oval Bernina hoop. If this is the case, you may need to use a larger Bernina hoop or opt for the 5x7 designs instead.
