In case you are new to the world of large applique designs, let me fill you in. A large applique design is one which needs 2 or more hoopings, with the joining completed as you stitch, in the hoop. The beauty of my large applique designs is you can quickly create a 3D Design much larger than your hoop.

The koru (Māori for "loop") is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace. It is an integral symbol in Māori art, carving and tattoos.

Just in time for Waitangi Day (New Zealand Day) I’ve combined our beautiful Koru and Heart, to create our Koru Placemat.   I've stitched it in Greens in keeping with the Koru color, but you could use pinks/reds for a Valentines theme

The Placemat is made in seven hooping’s - joined easily in-the-hoop like a Jigsaw.

The 4x4 hoop creates a 9-inch Placemat – the 9x9 hoop creates a huge 20-inch Placemat

You get 5 hoop sizes in the one set – 4x4 5x7 6x10 8x8 9x9

To make matching Coasters simply stitch the last Heart by itself

We use hoop size descriptions in line with usual industry terms.  If you are unsure if your hoop is big enough for a design, please check the size in mm, or click here for a list of common Embroidery Hoop Sizes

Please note that our 6x10 designs utilize the full embroidery field, which may not fit within the Oval Bernina hoop. If this is the case, you may need to use a larger Bernina hoop or opt for the 5x7 designs instead.
