In case you are new to the world of large applique designs, let me fill you in. A large applique design is one which needs 2 or more hoopings, with the joining completed as you stitch, in the hoop. The beauty of my large applique designs is you can quickly create a 3D Animal Design much larger than your hoop, and then add them to quilt blocks, reading pillows or pretty much any item as you like. 

This stunning Butterfly is made in 3 hoopings - it can be created as a stand-alone butterfly which can be appliqued to premade items, or, as with the Butterfly Bag, attached to an item on the final hooping.

FULL INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED FOR BUTTERFLY BAG AND STAND-ALONE BUTTERFLY

      Finished Butterfly Size:

      8X10 hoop (200X260MM)                             15 by 10 inches (38 by 25 cm)

      6X10 or 8x8 hoop (160X260MM)                11.5 by 7.8 inches (29.5 by 20cm)

      5X7 hoop (130X180MM)                               10.2 by 6.7 inches (26 by 17.5 cm)

THE BUTTERFLY BAG USES THE 5X7 HOOP, AND FINISHED SIZE OF THE BAG IS 10 BY 81/2 inch

We use hoop size descriptions in line with usual industry terms.  If you are unsure if your hoop is big enough for a design, please check the size in mm, or click here for a list of common Embroidery Hoop Sizes

Please note that our 6x10 designs utilize the full embroidery field, which may not fit within the Oval Bernina hoop. If this is the case, you may need to use a larger Bernina hoop or opt for the 5x7 designs instead.
